Laurel defeats Ellwood
Laurel (64) Vs. Ellwood City (55)
Dec 08, 2014
Mason Mraz led four Spartans in double figures with a game-high 21 points in a win over the Wolverines at the Ellwood City Tipoff Tournament.

Mraz added 13 rebounds and seven assists as well for the victors.

“I didn’t think we played real well in the first half,” Laurel coach Ken Locke said. “We were 1 for 14 from the 3-point line in the first half. We took a lot of outside shots and we weren’t doing a good job getting to the hoop.

“We cleaned it up in the second half a little and shot the ball better.”

Jacob Wilson was next for Laurel (1-1) with 18 markers, while Scott Siddall tossed in 13. Noah Wertz added 10.

Rick Roth registered 16 tallies for Ellwood City Lincoln (1-1) and Ricie Scott added 13. Nick Ioanilli chipped in with 11.

Laurel took command by outscoring the Wolverines 21-9 in the third quarter to build a 46-35 advantage going to the final frame.
