Shenango girls win tourney title

Carolyn Peterson’s 20 points helped guide the Lady Wildcats to a championship in their own tipoff tournament.

Shenango (2-0) took a 19-4 lead after the first and held a 32-12 lead at halftime.

“It was nice to start off with two wins,” Shenango coach Brian Turk said. “Now, we have to get ready for league play.”

Samantha Seaburn had 17 points and 10 rebounds. She had 17 points and 12 rebounds in Friday’s win and earned all-tournament team honors. Angelina Sibeto joined her on the all-tournament team. She had five assists, four points, four rebounds and three steals. She added 10 points and five rebounds Friday. Jacqui Baker had three points and eight rebounds. She had 10 points and eight rebounds Friday.

Lexi Brumbaugh (1-1) paced the Lady ’Hounds with eight points. Hannah Drake added seven points and was named to the all-tournament team.
