The Spartans wrapped up fourth place in Section 2-AA and eliminated the Panthers from playoff contention with the home win.
Laurel (7-6, 12-8) is two games behind Neshannock (9-4, 16-5) with one section game to play.
“It was a good win for us,” Laurel coach Ken Locke said. “We didn’t play extremely well. We fought for four quarters and got the job done. We have two games left and we’re looking forward to playing these teams and getting ready for the playoffs.”
The Spartans took a slim 34-32 lead into the second half, but the teams combined for 11 points in the third quarter.
“We were able to use the full-court pressure in the first half,” said Locke, whose team forced 22 turnovers. “That was the tempo we wanted to play and we were able to create some turnovers.
“They started calling it real close in the second half and were calling a bunch of touch fouls, so we had to adjust defensively and pull back.”
Jacob Wilson reached the 20-point plateau for the third straight game and finished with 20 points, six steals, four assists and three rebounds. Mason Mraz finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
