Shenango (70) Vs. New Brighton (52)
Feb 05, 2014
The visiting Wildcats drained 10 3-pointers in the Section 2-AA triumph.
Shenango (5-8, 9-11) turned a five-point cushion to start the second quarter into a 41-20 halftime cushion.
“I told the kids we have to play for pride,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “We’re still putting our uniforms on. We want to send the seniors out on a high note and build for next year. It’s tough to go out and play when you don’t have the playoffs to shoot for, but I thought we played with a lot of effort.
“We shot the ball really well in the second quarter. I thought the guys did a nice job of attacking and kicking the ball out to open shooters. We rotated the ball really well and were able to get some good looks.”
Brenton Booher led the Wildcats with 19 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and three assists, while Ryan Smith added 14 tallies and six rebounds and Sam Sibeto tossed in 13 markers.
Ryley Ferrari finished with nine points and 10 assists.
“It’s nice to have multiple guys in double digits,” McQuiston said. “We shot the ball really well. The guys were shooting with confidence. We wanted to push the ball and get some easy shots. We did a nice job of getting to the rim.”
