The Blue Darlings sent the game into overtime with a 3-pointer with two seconds left in regulation. But the Lady Greyhounds pitched a shutout in the extra session to earn the District 10, Region 2-AA home win.

“We did a little bit of a drop defense and pressure the ball enough,” Wilmington coach Brandy Sanford said of the overtime strategy. “We got a couple of turnovers and then they had to foul us.

“This win was vital for many purposes. More importantly it was big for team morale after having numerous losses. They’re really pulling together. It was disappointing to have the overtime. But I told them this is the time to show them that you have it.”

Tessa Sikora supplied a team-high 15 points for the Lady Greyhounds (6-4, 12-7) and Cassidy Marett added 12.
