Mohawk (55) Vs. Beaver Falls (63)
Feb 01, 2014
Mohawk flirted with a huge upset of Section 2-AA leader Beaver Falls, but just fell short, 63-55 last night.
The loss eliminated Mohawk (3-9, 7-12) from the playoff picture. The Tigers remain alone at the top at 11-1, 16-4.
“I am extremely proud of the guys tonight,” Warriors coach Rob Fadden said. “They fought with everything they had until the end. Beaver Falls is a great team and we were right there with them.
“This would have been a great one to get, but I can’t fault the effort one bit.”
Mohawk led 15-14 after one quarter and trailed just 33-32 at the half and 48-46 heading into the fourth period. But the Warriors went cold from the field and the Tigers put it away with several key field goals.
Zach Shasteen and Jonathan Grim scored 15 points apiece to lead Mohawk. Travis Giardina chipped in with 12.
Donovan Jeter led Beaver Falls’ balanced scoring attack with 16 points. Dan Stratton and Branden Thomas added 14 apiece and Javon Turner checked in with 10.
