Ellwood loses OT heart-breaker
Ellwood City (51) Vs. West Allegheny (53)
Jan 24, 2014
The visiting Lady Wolverines let a 28-21 halftime lead turn into the overtime Section 2-AAA loss.

Ellwood City (1-8, 5-13) was outscored 8-6 in the extra session.

“We hustled and battled until the end,” Ellwood City coach Dena Noble said. “We have a young team and most of them have never played in a close game let alone a game that goes into overtime. We are striving for consistency and learning from every game we play. We have to put this behind us, learn from it and move forward.”

Bailey McKinney finished with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds, while Karington Ketterer tossed in 14 of her 16 points in the first half. Ketterer also had five steals, four rebounds and four blocks.

“Bailey and Karington played well tonight,” Noble said. “They face guarded Karington the rest of the way. Unfortunately, the rest of our team had trouble putting the ball in the hoop.”
