The visiting Spartans fell behind 23-11 in the first quarter and never recovered.

The defending state champion Tigers (8-1, 13-3) added to their lead with a 21-9 advantage in the second quarter to take a 44-20 lead into the break. Laurel (3-6, 7-8) found itself down 70-32 entering the final quarter.

Noah Wertz connected on five 3-pointers to pace the Spartans with 17 points, while Zachary Wilson contributed 14.

“It’s a tough place to play and they’re a good team,” Laurel coach Ken Locke said. “They just beat us in every aspect. They came out ready to play and our guys were a little flat.”
