Union girls get home win
Union (40) Vs. Western Beaver (29)
Jan 21, 2014
The Lady Scots broke a five-game losing streak with the 11-point home Section 1-A win.

“It was good to get a win,” Union coach Larry Ondako said. “We’ve been struggling a little bit. We played a pretty solid game for four quarters. We’ve put (solid quarters) together here and there, but this is the first time we’ve scored consistently.”

Union (2-6, 3-11) jumped out to a 10-4 lead and extended it to 21-8 at the break.

“That was real important,” Ondako said. “In our last four games, we’ve only scored seven points combined in the first quarter. We knocked down some shots and went to the line. Our problem has been scoring. If you can score 40 you can win some games, but if you score 22, you won’t win many.”

Tyanna Harris led the Lady Scots with 11 points, while Tayshia Razo helped with eight. Hannah Booth, Christina Noble and Skylar Thompson rounded out the balanced scoring with seven each.

“Christina Noble played a really good game,” Ondako said. “I know she only had one bucket, but she got to the line. She really set the tempo and played a great overall game for us.”
