The Ellwood City Wolverines couldn’t get much offense going in the first half and it ended up costing them in their 63-49 Section 2-AAA opening loss at home to Blackhawk.
Ellwood City (0-1, 1-4) managed just eight points apiece in the first and second quarters as the Cougars (1-0, 1-2) built a 31-16 lead at the break.
Justin Vetica led the Wolverines with 11 points.
