Mars raced to a 22-5 lead and never looked back in a nonsection road win over Shenango.
The Planets (19-3), ranked No. 1 in the WPIAL in Class AAA by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, built a 49-13 halftime advantage.
It was the season finale for the Class AA Wildcats (7-15).
“They’re a good basketball team,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “It’s a game that we schedule every year and it’s a nice game to have to get you ready for the playoffs.
“Unfortunately for us, we weren’t playing for the playoffs. I thought our guys played hard, though. I was proud of our effort. The kids played hard all year and that’s all you can ask for as a coach. They gave their best effort and that’s all you can ask for.”
Greg DePorzio tossed in 15 points for the Wildcats and Brenton Booher was next with 14.
Zach May and Josh Goetz scored 15 points each to lead Mars.
