Riverside (69) Vs. Laurel (38)
Feb 01, 2013
The Lady Spartans struggled on the glass in a Section 2-AA home loss to Riverside.
Laurel (2-8 section, 5-13 overall) managed just five rebounds in the first half and 17 for the game. The Lady Panthers (7-3, 11-8) built a 34-11 halftime advantage.
“We did a really poor job of rebounding,” Lady Spartans coach Jessica Shevitz said. “The first half was the worst half of basketball we’ve played all year; I was very disappointed at halftime.
“The girls never quit, though. They kept battling the whole second half. You can’t have success against Riverside if you don’t rebound.”
Brooke Dicks and Ellen Shaffer netted eight points each for Laurel. Shaffer snared a team-high nine rebounds and Dicks blocked three shots. Jessica Conrad and Kristan Fedrizzi contributed six markers apiece.
Nicole Mansfield registered 22 points for Riverside and Alexis Deep was next with 16. Deep surpassed the 1,000-point plateau as well.
