Cold-shooting ’Cats lose
Riverside (46) Vs. Shenango (24)
Jan 30, 2013
Shenango couldn’t find its scoring stroke against visiting Section 2-AA rival Riverside.

“They just had a lid on the basket,” Wildcats coach Bob McQuiston said. “We just didn’t shoot it well. I thought we got some open looks, but we had too many shots go in and out.”

Shenango (3-8, 7-11) shot just 8 of 39 from the field for the game as its playoff hopes took a big hit last night.

“We didn’t turn it over any more than we normally do,” McQuiston said. “I don’t know if it was nerves. We knew it was a big game tonight.”

Riverside forward Gig Jewell finished with 26 points and caused issues inside for the Wildcats.

“He hurt us a lot. We tried a bunch of different things on him,” McQuiston said. “He’s just a good player and strong kid.”
