Neshannock routs Rochester
Neshannock (72) Vs. Rochester (42)
Jan 24, 2013
Neshannock got offensive contributions from 13 players in a nonsection rout of Rochester last night.

“It was good to see almost everybody get in the box score in regards to points,” Lancers coach John Corey said. “To have 13 guys get in the scoring column is a good offensive performance.”

Corey noted that Neshannock (13-3) continued to receive contributions from its underclassmen, including Ethan Moose, Frank Fraschetti and Jim Medure, who combined for 18 points. Medure finished with nine points, while Moose followed with six and a team-high 12 rebounds. Fraschetti added three points.

“Medure has been very productive for us off the bench. I’m pretty happy overall with our young guys. They’re going to see some crucial minutes,” Corey said. “With Fraschetti and Moose, they’ve been playing fairly well for us as freshman stepping on the varsity basketball court. We’ve been really happy with their performances.”

Ernie Burkes again led the charge for the winners with 20 points. The point guard has averaged 24 points a game his last four games.

“He’s definitely playing well right now,” Corey said. “The other guards on the floor also seem to be clicking right now on the offensive end. Ernie is a very good player. We expect big performances the rest of the year from him to finish out section play.”

Team defense remains a problem for Neshannock, as Corey is unsatisfied with his team on the defensive end.

“We had one good quarter,” he said. “It wasn’t a very good overall defensive performance. We allowed 20 free throws because we didn’t move our feet well enough and got lazy. I’m not real impressed with our effort.”
