Neshannock kept its playoff hopes alive with a Section 2-AA triumph at New Brighton.
“It was an excellent bounce-back game,” Lady Lancers coach Luann Grybowski said. “I have never won at New Brighton. I told the girls that this was a big game and to go out, play hard and leave everything on the floor.”
After a crushing loss to Mohawk in overtime last week, Grybowski was proud of her girls for stepping up and following a defensive mentality.
“It was a slow start, but we played very well in the second quarter and jumped out to the big lead. We talked about defense lately and trying to hold teams to around 40 points. Only allowing 33, we’re where we need to be.”
Neshannock (4-4, 7-8) had a season-low 10 turnovers in the contest. The Lady Lancers held a 25-12 advantage at halftime.
Madison McHale contributed 19 points for the winners. Erin Warvell was next with nine and also had seven assists. Tayler Grybowski had eight points to go with a team-high five steals and five rebounds.
