Lady Scots cruise to win
Union (42) Vs. Western Beaver (18)
Jan 22, 2013
The Union High girls cruised to a Section 1-A victory at Western Beaver.
The Lady Scots (7-1, 10-4) limited the Lady Golden Beavers (0-8, 0-12) to nine points in each half in a solid defensive effort.
“For the most part, we defended pretty well,” Union coach Brian Fadden said. “We got most of our offense off of our defense.”
Miranda Heaney had a game-high 11 points for the winners. She was one of eight players to get in the scorebook for the Lady Scots.
“When you have that many people score, that means normally good things are happening,” Fadden said. “It was a total team effort. Everyone played a nice game.”
Fadden is hoping the momentum of a seven-game winning streak will give his team confidence for an upcoming homecourt matchup against section-leading Quigley Catholic on Thursday. The Lady Spartans handed Union its lone league loss this season, 57-24 at home.
“They’ve been looking forward to this game for a week and a half,” Fadden said. “We did what we needed to do last the several games for what we think is going to be a really good game.”
