Lady ’Hounds top Greenville
Wilmington (46) Vs. Greenville (38)
Jan 22, 2013
Wilmington continued its winning ways in a District 10, Region 2-AA tilt against visiting Greenville.

The Lady Greyhounds (3-3 region, 5-9 overall) won their fourth game in six tries and did it without head coach Brandy Sanford behind the bench. Sanford was suspended for one game after receiving two technical fouls in Wilmington’s last game against West Middlesex. It was Doug Dorio, the team’s assistant coach, who stepped in to coach and win his first varsity game.

“We played well. Offensively we made a lot of shots and moved the ball well,” he said. “I was really happy with how we saw the court.”

Tessa Sikora registered 13 points for Wilmington. Alanna Elliott, playing in her fourth game since returning from concussion-like symptoms, followed with 12.

“Having Alanna coming back really helped take some pressure off our other girls,” Dorio said. “She’s the offensive threat we needed.”
