Wilmington defeats Greenville
Wilmington (56) Vs. Greenville (36)
Jan 16, 2013
It took five tries, but Wilmington recorded its first District 10, Region 2-AA victory of the season at Greenville.

“It was one of our most complete games we played,” Greyhounds coach Mike Jeckavitch said. “We got up on them early and never let up. We played really good team basketball.”

Davis Smith had a team-leading 12 points for the Greyhounds (1-4, 4-8). Jordan Smith and Nate Anthony were next with 10.

Fourth-quarter woes plagued the Greyhounds in dropping their last six contests by an average of 6.8 points a game coming into the game. By gaining a 30-15 advantage by halftime, Wilmington removed any chance of a tight game heading into the fourth quarter.

“We had a lot of guys who stepped up,” Jeckavitch said. “They were just tired of losing.”
