Union (60) Vs. Aliquippa (41)
Jan 11, 2013
Tyanna Harris and Hannah Booth set career highs in leading Union to a Section 1-A win at Aliquippa.

Harris registered a personal best 16 points to lead the Lady Scots. It eclipsed her previous high of 10, which she set the team’s last game against Cornell.

“She hit some big shots for us in the first half,” Union coach Brian Fadden said. “She’s been shooting them with confidence, and they’re going in.”

Booth followed with her own personal high of 14. Her previous best was 11, which she has accomplished twice this season.

Usually reliant on the scoring output of twin sisters Marissa and Miranda Heaney, the Lady Scots have received a combined 50 points from Harris and Booth in the last two games they’ve played in.

“Once again, we got some big points from Hannah and Tyanna. It’s not just the twins on this team. Everyone is sharing the ball very well,” Fadden said. “Since the Christmas tournament, we’ve been shooting the ball better.”

Union (4-1, 7-4) trailed Aliquippa (1-4, 1-10) after the first quarter, 15-10. The Lady Scots’ defense responded, holding the Lady Quips to 26 points the rest of the game.

“I think the big thing was we started rebounding,” Fadden said. “When they were missing shots, they were able to get some easy baskets on us with rebounds. We rebounded much better in the second half, and our defense looked much better as a result.”

Marissa Heaney was next with 12 points for the winners and Miranda Heaney followed with seven.
