Lady Lancers edge Cornell
Neshannock (46) Vs. Cornell (45)
Jan 07, 2013
The Lady Lancers delivered at the foul line in the game’s waning moments in a road win over nonsection Cornell.
Neshannock’s Erin Warvell drained 3 of her 4 foul shots and Tayler Grybowski split a pair of hers in the final minute for a 46-42 advantage. The Lady Raiders (3-6) banked in a 3-pointer at the horn to cut the final margin to a single tally.
It’s the first road victory for the Lady Lancers (5-6) this year.
“It was good to get a road win,” Neshannock coach Luann Grybowski said. “The kids are out of sync from not being in school.
“Cornell has a decent team. They have some bulky size and they played us a zone the whole game. The kids fought through, though. It’s a good win for us.”
Madison McHale recorded a team-high 13 points for the Lady Lancers and Alexandra Fischer was next with 11.
Cassidy Burrelli and Fischer shared team-best honors in rebounding with seven each. Tayler Grybowski, the coach’s daughter, was next with six. Tayler handed out five assists and Erin Warvell followed with four.
Mason DiPietro led all scorers with 17 points for Cornell.
