The Lady Wildcats held on to win a free-throw fest, 63-53, over Burgettstown in the Penn State-Beaver Holiday Tournament.

Shenango (6-3) was 19 of 35 from the foul line compared to 25 of 46 for the Lady Blue Devils (0-8).

“We played a lot of younger players,” Lady Wildcats coach Brian Turk said. “We didn’t play smart basketball in the second half.

“It got ugly, but we won. When you put a team on the line that many times, it will come back to get you sometime. We let them get back in by playing the foul shot game.”

Jenna Petrucci posted 16 points with five rebounds and five steals to lead Shenango. Amanda Herb was next with 15 markers and eight boards. Angelina Sibeto chipped in with 10 points, nine rebounds and five steals.

Bryanna Lonick notched 15 points for Burgettstown.

Shenango closes out the tournament at 4 p.m. today against Washington.
