Mohawk girls top Union
Mohawk (51) Vs. Union (34)
Dec 24, 2012
Mohawk built a 13-3 lead and cruised to a nonsection road win over Union.

The Lady Warriors increased the margin to 29-12 at the half.

“We played well, especially in the first half,” Mohawk coach Mike O’Lare said. “It was a pretty solid game.

“We played a lot of kids and that’s good to have at times, but we have to play better.”

Said Lady Scots coach Brian Fadden, “Mohawk is a good team. They shot it really well in the first half and we didn’t. We never quit and we battled throughout the second half.”

Devon Giancola delivered a game-best 16 points for the Lady Warriors and Paige Ruby followed with 12 markers and a game-high 12 rebounds. Giancola and Hannah Morrow snared five boards apiece.

“It was nice to get that balance from Paige,” O’Lare said.

Miranda Heaney tossed in a team-high 11 points for the Lady Scots.
