Defense came through for the Warriors in a Section 2-AA home win over Riverside.

Mohawk (1-1, 2-3) built a 12-2 lead after the first quarter and increased it to 25-8 at the half.

“We came out and shot the ball better than we have been. That gave us some momentum,” Warriors coach Rob Fadden said. “Defensively, I thought our guys did a nice job helping in the post and doubling in the post.”

Lucas Grim, Travis Giardina and Ryan Sager netted 10 points each for Mohawk. Grim snared 11 rebounds with six blocks, while Giardina collected seven boards.

Tyler Falk paced the Panthers (0-2, 2-3) with 10 markers.
