Riverside rolls over Shenango
Riverside (62) Vs. Shenango (27)
Dec 18, 2012
Shenango might be 4-2 overall, but the losses are most important to Lady Wildcats coach Brian Turk.
“Unfortunately, those losses have both been in section play. Those are wins that we need,” he said. “We’ve had a good start, but we ran into a buzz saw tonight against Riverside. We weren’t able to handle their pressure.”
The Lady Panthers built a 31-10 advantage by halftime as Shenango struggled to get into a rhythm on offense.
“We had too many turnovers,” Turk said. “We couldn’t get production offensively. It was just a bad night. Hopefully, we’ll put this behind us.”
Forward Amanda Herb tallied nine points in the Section 2-AA loss. Angela Sibeto was next with six.
Strong offensive showings by Riverside’s Alexis Deep and Nicole Mansfield carried the Lady Panthers to victory. Deep scored 24 points while Mansfield had 22.
“Tonight really showed the talent of Deep and Mansfield,” Turk said. “They are two of the best players in the league.”
