The New Castle High boys basketball team continues to roll.
Four players scored in double figures for the Red Hurricane in an 85-63 win over Anchorage (Alaska) Christian yesterday in the championship of the KSA Classic Tournament in Orlando, Fla. New Castle extended its regular-season winning streak to 29 straight dating back to the 2010-2011 season.
New Castle (5-0) opened the game on a 14-2 run and held a 23-16 lead after the period. The ’Canes extended it to 57-26 at the break.
“We played really well,” New Castle coach Ralph Blundo said. “It was a good game for us and I’m proud of the guys’ effort.
“We shot it great and we defended great. We played a really good all-around basketball game. It’s a great way to end the tournament.”
The ’Canes pushed the lead over 40 in the second half before Anchorage Christian narrowed the gap.
Shawn Anderson posted 18 points to lead New Castle and Malik Hooker chipped in with 17. Anthony Richards registered 13 markers and Brandon Domenick was next with 12.
“Everyone played hard,” Blundo said. “When we play the way we played today, everyone has a hand in it.”
