Markel Peace delivered for the Scotties in an 83-53 nonsection home win over Wilmington last night.
Peace poured in 25 points, including nine in the first quarter, as Union built a 24-13 lead. He was 10 of 12 from the field, including 4 of 6 from behind the arc.
The Scotties (4-1) were 34 of 66 from the field, including 10 of 25 from three-point range.
“We’re taking good shots and moving the ball,” Union coach Dave Smialowski said. “We’re playing really unselfish basketball and it’s making for good basketball.
“We’re really taking some good shots and pushing it well, too. We want to play more up and down basketball and they’re making solid decisions with the ball.”
Joe Salmen supplied 16 points and five assists for the Scotties, while Benjamin Young netted 15 markers and five assists. Tre Major was next with 10 points.
Drew Robinson handed out seven assists for the winners.
Ryan Brumbaugh paced the Greyhounds (2-2) with 15 points and Rocco Fagan was next with 14.
Wilmington turned the ball over 25 times compared to just nine for the Scotties.
“Wilmington played hard,” Smialowski said. “They matched our intensity in the beginning.
“We wore them down in the second half a little bit more.”
