Peace brings joy for Union
Union (83) Vs. Summit Academy (53)
Dec 13, 2012
Union cruised in its nonconference home opener against Summit Academy.
Markel Peace’s 18 first-quarter points powered the Scotties to a 54-20 halftime lead. Peace finished the game with 26 points.
“We jumped on them pretty good there. Markel was on fire,” Union coach Dave Smialowski said. “He did a nice job rebounding. He’s definitely somewhere we can get our scoring from.”
Union’s (3-1) offense was clicking on all cylinders, as the Scotties hit six 3-pointers against the struggling Knights (0-4). “Our pressure wore them out. Defensively we were all over the place,” Smialowski said. “The kids are so unselfish. We’re getting some really easy high-percentage shots. We’re finding the open man and things are really clicking.”
Wayne Seamans was next for Union with 15 points, including a team-leading three 3-pointers. Tre Major scored 10 while contributing a team-high seven rebounds.
