Scotties slam Shenango

Markel Peace’s 19 points helped the Scotties post the victory in the Neshannock Tipoff Tournament consolation game.

Union (1-1) erupted for a 24-2 lead after the first period. The Scotties held a 42-9 halftime advantage.

Peace, who was named to the all-tournament team, added seven rebounds. Benjamin Young had 11 points, six rebounds and five assists. Joe Salmen and Tre Major both added seven points for Union.

James Micco led the Wildcats (0-2) with seven points.

“It was good to get the first win on the year,” Union coach Dave Smialowski said. “We shot better. I think the kids’ legs were there more for this game. We’ll take it.”
