Lady Spartans struggle in loss
Cornell (54) Vs. Laurel (32)
Dec 10, 2012
The Lady Spartans’ offense struggled in the defeat at the Cornell Tournament championship.
The Lady Raiders held a 31-10 halftime lead. Laurel (1-1) rallied in the third quarter, but could not overcome the deficit.
“The effort was there; our shooting was not. We shot 60 percent from the field on Friday, but made only 12 percent of our shots in this game,” Laurel coach Jessica Shevitz said. “They were good shots. The girls made good shot selections, but they just didn’t go in. It’s hard to win like that. I am glad it wasn’t a section game.”
Callie Ritchie led Laurel with 12 points and eight rebounds. Brooke Dicks, who was named to the all-tournament team, had 10 points. She set a program record for single-game assists Friday with 13 dimes. Jessica Conrad did not score, but she had 13 rebounds and four blocks.
