Asia Borders scored 12 points to help the Lady Wolverines capture the South Side Beaver Tournament championship.

The Lady Wolverines (2-0) posted a 19-4 lead after the first and went up 31-10 at halftime.

Borders, who added 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals, was named the tournament’s MVP. Kara Sainato, who had 12 points, joined her on the all-tournament team. Karington Ketterer finished with 11 points. Angela McCowin had five points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.

“It was another good team effort,” Ellwood coach Jolene Servick said. “We forced them into turnovers and converted many into points. Our full-court pressure resulted in many turnovers.”
