Offense lets down Ellwood
Central Valley (42) Vs. Ellwood City (29)
Jan 31, 2012
Ellwood City Lincoln didn’t have enough offense in a Section 2-AAA home loss to Central Valley.

It was just the fourth time this year the Lady Wolverines (0-10, 5-14) allowed 42 points or less in a game.

“Thank God for our defense,” first-year Ellwood City coach Jolene Servick said. “Our offense is not clicking yet, but the defense was outstanding.

“The girls really put in a strong effort. We’re just not capitalizing on the turnovers we’re getting.”

The Lady Wolverines trailed by just 10 points midway through the fourth quarter but couldn’t make up any ground on the Lady Warriors (5-4, 13-4).

“We’re down 10 (in the fourth) and the girls weren’t looking to drive or draw fouls,” Servick said. “They weren’t looking to be aggressive.”

Angela McCowin, Asia Borders and Bailey McKinney netted eight points each for Ellwood.

Sierra Barrett tossed in a game-high 13 points for Central Valley.
