Mohawk wins in double overtime
Mohawk (43) Vs. Rochester (39)

Mohawk’s Shelby Brown buried a pair of foul shots late in the second overtime to seal a 43-39 nonsection home win over Rochester last night.
“Shelby is our best free-throw shooter,” Lady Warriors coach Mike O’Lare said. “We wanted the ball in her hands at the end and she delivered.”
Mohawk’s Devon Giancola drained a 3-pointer with just under a minute left in regulation to knot the count at 34 and send the game into overtime.
Both teams were coming off tough section losses on Thursday. Mohawk (11-4) dropped a 43-32 Section 2-AA matchup to Riverside, while the Lady Rams (8-8) were routed by Aliquippa, 65-36.
“This was a game where you have about 24 hours to regroup after an emotional loss,” O’Lare said. “To just get the win the next day is all you try to do.
“We got the win and that’s all that matters. We definitely need to get better.”
Brown paced the Lady Warriors with 15 points and Taylor Yarletts was next with 10. Katie Hoover pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for Mohawk.
Miranda Robson recorded 15 points for Rochester.
The Lady Rams were just 5 of 25 from the foul line, compared to 17 of 29 for the Lady Warriors.
“It wasn’t a pretty game for either team,” O’Lare said. “We were very fortunate to come out with the win.
“But we continue to play good defense and I’m happy about that.”
