Summit holds on to beat Mohawk
Mohawk (50) Vs. Summit Academy (53)
Jan 07, 2012
Mohawk couldn’t get a potential tying 3-pointer off in time and Summit Academy hung on for a 53-50 Section 2-AA road win.

The Knights (4-0, 7-3), ranked No. 5 in the WPIAL in Class AA by the Post-Gazette, missed the second foul shot with four seconds left that would have sealed the win. The Warriors (1-2, 5-5) grabbed the rebound and raced the other way but time ran out before they could get a look at the bucket.

“The biggest positive is the kids battled,” first-year Mohawk coach Rob Fadden said. “There were opportunities that the game could have got away from us. But we didn’t allow it.”

The Warriors’ Tim Glass led all scorers with 22 points and Lucas Grim was next with 10.

Elijah Minnie posted 14 points for Summit Academy.
