Central crushes Ellwood girls
Central Valley (61) Vs. Ellwood City (33)
Jan 06, 2012
A slow start spelled doom for Ellwood City Lincoln in a Section 2-AAA road matchup with the Lady Warriors.
Led by Madalena Rowan, who scored 10 of her 16 in the first frame, Central Valley (2-1, 8-1) took a 16-5 first-quarter lead and led by 24 at the half.
Ellwood City (0-4, 3-7) outscored Central Valley, 11-10, in the third quarter, but the first-half deficit was too big to overcome.
“We woke up in the second half,” Ellwood City coach Jolene Servick said. “We stressed how important it was to be aggressive and go to the hoop. Unfortunately, the game is four quarters, and we have got to start playing all four. That’s something we have to work on and overcome.”
Asia Borders netted a team-best 10 points for the Lady Wolverines.
