Riverside routs Lady Lancers
Riverside (71) Vs. Neshannock (48)
Jan 06, 2012
Three players combined for 62 of Riverside’s 71 points in a Section 2-AA rout of Neshannock.
The superior size of the Lady Panthers (4-0, 9-1) gave visiting Neshannock trouble from the start, when Riverside jumped out to a 39-20 halftime advantage. Alex Deep scored 12 of her 20 in the first quarter, and Nicole Mansfield netted 10 of her 20 in the second period to extend the lead.
“We just couldn’t match up with their size inside, and we didn’t box out, so that was our downfall,” Neshannock coach Luann Grybowski said. “And we didn’t get back in transition. Of their 71, we probably gave up 30 points in transition.”
Neshannock (1-2, 4-7) shot 15 of 61, while Riverside was 28 of 70. Madison McHale recorded a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Marissa DeMatteo scored 12 for Neshannock, which committed 18 turnovers compared to Riverside’s five.
Riverside paces the section standings by a half game over Beaver Falls.
