Jan 06, 2012
Savannah Partridge paced three players in double figures with 20 points in a nonsection home victory over Portersville Christian.
Partridge added eight rebounds and seven assists as well. Nine of her points came in the second quarter when the Lady Scots outscored the visitors, 26-11.
“Savannah played a good game,” Union coach Brian Fadden said. “She played a good overall team game and she got her teammates involved earlier in the game.
“Savannah got open shots later and knocked them down.”
Miranda Heaney was next for Union (6-5) with 18 points and seven assists, while her sister Marissa Heaney added 13 markers.
Union was 10 of 14 at the foul line after a 1-of-17 effort Tuesday against Rochester.
“I fully expected us to come back and shoot them better and we shot them very well,” Fadden said of the free-throw shooting.
Mary McDonald led all scorers with 37 points, including 19 in the first half. She scored all 11 of her team’s points in the second quarter.
“It was a good win for us,” Fadden said. “We did a lot of good things on offense.
“We did do some good things on defense, even though McDonald scored 37 points. We were in good position on McDonald, she just made a lot of good moves on us.”
