’Cats bounce back with victory
Shenango (62) Vs. Wilmington (57)
Dec 30, 2011
Jeff Williams made sure the Wildcats bounced back in a big way a night after suffering a tough loss to Laurel.

The Shenango senior tied a career high with 25 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Williams scored 13 in a decisive third quarter, going 6 of 6 from the foul line in the period. He was 13 of 18 from the line for the game.

“That was something we stressed, was getting to the hoop,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “We only shot eight free throws last (Wednesday) night, and we’ve been averaging around 25 or 30. We were attacking offensively, and I thought Jeff did a good job getting in the lane and going to the glass hard.

“Last night, obviously the guys were down. It was a tough game for us, so I think they had a little bit to prove tonight.”

Shenango (7-2) led 25-19 at halftime, and outscored Wilmington, 23-15, in the third quarter. Brett Chieze poured in 19 for the Wildcats.

Anthony Derrick paced the Greyhounds (2-5) with 19, while Ryan Sager added 15.
