Summit wears down Union
Summit Academy (75) Vs. Union (53)
Dec 22, 2011
The wear and tear of Summit Academy’s size eventually caught up to Union in a nonsection matchup.

The Knights (4-3) boast two players who are 6 foot 8 and four others at 6-4 or bigger. The Scotties (3-4) hung around on their home court for the first half, trailing 38-29 at the half, but Summit Academy owned the third quarter and ended up cruising to a win.

“The size just overtakes you at some point. The kids battled and played hard, but the size just wears you down. It was a nine-point deficit in the first half, and we missed some easy ones. I think a lot of that has to do with the size — it’s always on your mind. I mean, their guards are bigger than our big men.”

Benjamin Young paced the Scotties, who were outscored 25-13 in the third quarter, with 19 points. Omar Johnson led the Knights with 23, while Elijah Minnie added 13 and David Carter 12.
