Laurel made just 14 percent of its shots in dropping a Section 2-AA matchup to Riverside.

The Lady Spartans (1-1, 2-2) fell behind 24-9 after one quarter and 41-13 at the break.

“We didn’t play well,” Laurel coach Jessica Shevitz said. “We didn’t come to play.

“We were down in the first three minutes of the game and never competed. We just played poorly; there was no spark.”

Sam Weir recorded a game-high 25 points for the Lady Panthers (2-0, 4-1).

Ellen Shaffer paced the Lady Spartans with six markers.

Laurel turned the ball over 32 times.
