Dec 16, 2011
Post players Marketta Jackson and Tanayja Sanders combined to score 35 of Sharon’s 49 points in a District 10, Region 2-AA clash.
Sanders posted a game-high 21 points, while Jackson added 14. Wilmington (1-1, 2-2) hung tough with the Lady Tigers in the first half as the game was tied at 22 at the break, but Sharon pulled away in the fourth quarter.
“They both play the post well,” said Wilmington coach Brandy Sanford of Jackson and Sanders. “They’re not throwing elbows or anything. They know how to play. And my girls played them how I told them to, but they’re just strong and played well. We came up short on buckets and missed some shots, but they played a very good game defensively.”
Alanna Elliott paced the Lady Greyhounds with 17 points, while Mackenzie Hiers provided 13 points and five assists.
