Mars defeats Shenango
Mars (80) Vs. Shenango (58)
Feb 15, 2011
Mars built a 40-29 halftime buffer and cruised to a nonsection win over Shenango.

The Wildcats (12-10) closed the season losing four out of their last five. The Planets (18-4) will compete in the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs.

“This is a disappointing loss; you always want to end the year with a win,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “Mars is a good team and they hit nine 3s against us. That goes to show you they can shoot the ball well.

“I feel bad for the kids. But the good thing is we have a lot of guys coming back. Hopefully we’ll bounce back well.”

Mike Linz paced Shenango with 16 points, while Jeff Williams added 14. Brock Blakley, the Wildcats’ only senior, chipped in with 12. Jordan O’Hara handed out six assists to go along with his six points.

Christian Locher fired in a game-best 27 markers for Mars.
