Feb 05, 2011
Almost everyone had a hand in Ellwood City Lincoln’s nonsection win over Ford City last night.
But Gino Ceriani’s hand was the hottest.
Ceriani scored a career-high 23 points and the Wolverines used a second-half run to pull away from Ford City.
Ceriani, who hit four 3-pointers, nailed 20 points in the first half, when the Wolverines (10-8) built a 32-21 lead. Ford City (12-7) tied things up in the third quarter, but Ellwood City countered with a 13-0 run to pull away for good.
“Guys shared the ball really well,” Wolverines coach Al Campman said. “It’s fun when guys play as a team.”
Jared Vetica finished with 10 points and hit two clutch 3s during the second-half run. Ryan Horgan also played a big role, netting 14, including 11 in the second half. Seven different players scored for the Wolverines, who have a showdown with Summit Academy on Tuesday at home.
“At this time of year, it’s fun to play games like this,” Campman said of the matchup.
