Sewickley girls edge Union
Sewickley (49) Vs. Union (44)
Feb 04, 2011
Union’s Savannah Partridge surpassed the 1,000-point plateau in a Section 1-A loss to Sewickley Academy.

Partridge led the Lady Scots (1-9, 3-16) with 19 points.

“It’s a great accomplishment for her,” Union coach Brian Fadden said. “I’m proud of how she has played this year.”

The Lady Scots were down three points with 10 seconds left, but a 3-pointer was off the mark and the Lady Panthers hit two foul shots to secure the win.

Sewickley Academy (5-6, 6-9) outscored Union in the second half, 32-19.

“They just kept shooting and rebounded it very well in the second half,” Fadden said. “They got a lot of loose balls that we couldn’t get at critical times.”

Miranda Heaney followed Partridge’s effort with 10 points for the Lady Scots and her sister Marissa Heaney added nine.

Katelyn Ripple led all scorers with 21 points for Sewickley Academy.
