DeMedal leads Wilmington past Neshannock

Jake DeMedal turned in a big first half to help the Greyhounds top Neshannock in nonleague action, 82-61.

DeMedal, a sophomore guard, scored 14 of his total 16 points in the first half. He netted 10 points alone in the second quarter as Wilmington owned a 37-22 halftime advantage.

“He really stepped up as a sophomore tonight,” Greyhounds coach Will Harris said. “I was glad to see him step up and play because he has the ability and he just needed the confidence.”

Chris Burns followed with 12 points for Wilmington (4-2). He also supplied six assists and eight rebounds.

Shane Wagner turned in 11 points and eight assists.

“Shane might not have had as many points as we’d like him to get but he made everyone better,” Harris said. “He found the open man all night.”

Dallas Hartman led in the rebounding effort with 12 boards and eight points.

Mike Conglose paced Neshannock (3-5) with 18 points and Bobby Nittinger followed with 12 markers.
