Lancers stay mentally tough to earn win
Neshannock (77) Vs. Rochester (68)
Tired and mentally exhausted, Neshannock fought through it and beat Rochester on the road in a nonsection matchup.

Ernie Burkes scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the first half as the Lancers built a 44-29 lead.

Neshannock (9-7) was coming off a tough WPIAL Section 2-AA loss to Summit Academy on Tuesday and has another key section game with Riverside tomorrow.

“It is draining when you sandwich a nonsection game between (Summit Academy) and another big one on Friday,” interim Neshannock coach Ken Locke said. “It wasn’t one of our better performances, but we were able to get the job done.”

John Sansone poured in 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Anthony Van Eman contributed 12 markers for the Lancers, who shot 29 of 63 from the field. Tyler Haswell added 10 points and eight boards.

Jamie Lavette led Rochester (0-15) with 18 points. He was one of four Rams to score in double figures.
