The Mohawk High boys basketball team collected a much-needed win last night.
The Warriors got a career-high 14 points from senior guard Jimmy Gerazounis in a 54-46 WPIAL Section 2-AA home win over Neshannock.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Mohawk (2-3 section, 6-6 overall).
“Whether it came at home or away, this was a win we definitely needed,” first-year Warriors coach Rob Fadden sad. “It was something our kids needed.
“We had a couple of good practices and it showed in their effort.”
Gerazounis buried four 3-pointers.
“Jimmy played a fantastic game,” Fadden said.
Lucas Grim followed Gerazounis’ effort with 12 points.
Ernie Burkes paced all scorers with 19 points for the Lancers (2-3, 6-6), while John Sansone chipped in with 10.
“We played a pretty good team game, defensively,” Fadden said. “Burkes and Sansone are two of the better guards we’ll see.”
Mohawk and Neshannock are in a four-way tie for third place in the section with Ellwood City Lincoln (2-3, 6-6) and Shenango (2-3, 7-6).
