Glass shines with 30 in Mohawk victory
Mohawk (66) Vs. Western Beaver (48)
Left or right, east or west — it didn’t matter.
Regardless of which way Tim Glass maneuvered last night, he couldn’t be stopped. The senior guard for the Mohawk High boys basketball team scored a career-high 30 points in the Warriors’ 66-48 win over Western Beaver in the Mohawk Warriors Christmas Classic.
Mohawk (5-2) led by three at the half, but Glass widened that gap considerably by scoring 13 of the Warriors’ 19 points in the third quarter. They took a 12-point advantage into the fourth and cruised past the Golden Beavers (2-4).
“Tim did a very good job of getting the hoop,” Mohawk coach Rob Fadden said. “He was able to penetrate and he did a nice job finishing, especially in the first and third quarters. He doesn’t have a problem (in the paint). He’s more comfortable going toward the hoop.”
Jimmy Gerazounis contributed 12 points for the Warriors, who have won four straight. All of Gerazounis’ came via the 3-point shot. Lucas Grim added 10.
Fadden said Glass’ penetration opened up opportunities for others, and the Warriors’ made the most of them.
“Offensively, we’re starting to play better,” he said. “We’re scoring more points than we’ve been accustom to the past few years.
“We’ve definitely put more of an emphasis on the offensive side than the defensive end (in practice), and now we’re starting to change gears a little and put a little more emphasis on defense because that’s where we’re struggling right now.”
Nick Miller paced Western Beaver with 21.
