Lady Scotties Fall to Moniteau, 37-27
Moniteau (37) Vs. Union (27)

Perfection was far from being presented during the Union High Boosters girls basketball tournament.
Turnovers, collisions and scrambling on the floor for the ball highlighted the evening as Moniteau managed to pull out a 37-27 win over the Lady Scots.
The Lady Warriors advance into the championship game and will play Wilmington at 6 p.m. today, while Union will face Laurel at 4 p.m. in the consolation.
“We played horrible, just horrible,” Moniteau coach Mark Yeager said. “Man this was ugly. We shot horrible.”
To Moniteau’s credit, the Lady Warriors did present a more physical brand of basketball to earn the win. Moniteau owned the glass with a 31-22 edge rebounding and had numerous offensive rebounds that led to points.
“We didn’t battle them,” Lady Scots coach Gary Trimble said. “We were not good on the boards.”
Union (2-7) trailed 18-13 after an Ashley Barger layup early in the third quarter. It would be the closest the Lady Scots would get the rest of the game.
Chelsea Seller drove the middle for a layup, then Maura McCaslin hit the game’s only 3-pointer midway through the period to extend the Lady Warriors lead to 23-13.
“We never got into any momentum on offense and it affected the rest of our play,” Trimble said, who witnessed his team commit 19 turnovers to Moniteau’s three.
Seller’s turnaround jumper gave the Lady Warriors their biggest lead of the game (37-24) with four minutes remaining. Union would manage only three more points the rest of the way.
The Lady Scots were led by Hannon’s eight points off the bench. Barger and Kristen Kozela were next with five apiece, with Barger adding a game-high six rebounds.
Guard Alex Guercio came off the bench for Moniteau to scored a game-high 12 points to go with five rebounds. Jenna McCorry had eight with Seller chipping in seven points.
