Neshannock edges Ursuline in OT
Neshannock (67) Vs. Ursuline (58)
The Neshannock High boys basketball team continues to roll.
The Lancers shut down Youngstown (Ohio) Ursuline to earn a thrilling 67-58 nonsection win last night.
Ursuline’s Damante Jenkins converted two free throws with two seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. But Neshannock (5-1) controlled the boards and knocked down 10 of 14 free throws in the extra period to earn the win.
“We asked the kids to really dig in in overtime,” Lancers coach John Corey said. “I can’t say enough of how hard we fought in that overtime period.”
Neshannock’s Bobby Nittinger, who recorded a game-high 25 points, broke free from a recent shooting slump to notch five 3-pointers.
“It was nice to see him get going again,” Corey said. “He had kind of been in a little bit of a drought. It was nice to see him get that touch back from the outside.”
John Sansone added 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Neshannock and Eric Bruening contributed 11 rebounds.
